2014 LDBA Playoffs
It was a great weekend of baseball for the St.Thomas Optimist Minor Rookie Cardinals at the LDBA Playoffs.
The Cardinals finished off the regular season in 4th place and found themselves facing 2nd place Dorchester Diamondbacks in the first round Friday night, Dorchester finished the regular season 1 point behind 1st place Sarnia. The Cardinals were the underdog going in but the boys put together their best game of the year and upset the Diamondbacks 21-4. After upsetting Dorchester we were forced to meet Sarnia in round 2 Saturday morning and after a back and fourth game found themselves losing 21-20 to the solid Sarnia team. After Dorchester beat North we were paired up again with Dorchester in round three Saturday afternoon, going into the top of 5 the Cardinals were down 1 run but rallied with a strong inning and finished the game up 21-13 in the 7th to move on to the finals Sunday afternoon. Again the Cardinals were facing the undefeated Sarnia team, but after an unbelievable game found themselves drop the final 14-11, was a solid run before the team heads to OBAs next weekend.
