Bats come alive late to propel the Major Rookie Cardinals to Victory
In what was a defensive battle until the 5th inning, the St. Thomas Major Rookie Cardinals 9U took the lead late and defeated North London Nationals 12-1 on Thursday. The game was tied at one with St. Thomas Cardinals 9U batting in the bottom of the fifth when Cameron M got things going with a hard single, which lead to 7 straight hits. Cooper H singled, driving in the first run of 5 scored in the inning. In the top of the 6th, the defense took over with a three up three down inning to bring the bats back up.
The Cardinals momentum continued by scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Cameron M, Cooper H, Zephyr H, and a double by Luke O. St. Thomas Cardinals 9U had 28 hits in the game. Kolton B, Hayden B, Luke T, Cameron, Parker V, Kaden L, Luke, Cooper, Chase C, and Zephyr each collected multiple hits for Cardinals 9U, and every player either drove in, or scored a run in a very balanced team effort. Zephyr, Cameron, Cooper, and Luke each drove in two runs to lead the late scoring rally. Another game of smart defensive put the team in a position to post another W! Great effort to the Major Rookies! Well done Fellas!
Next up, we head to London to play the London Tecumseh's on Monday July 10th @ 6:00pm. Go Cards!
