Despite strong pitching, St. Thomas Formet lost to its cross-town rival St. Thomas Briwood 7-6 Monday in second-round mosquito west playoff action in Mt. Brydges. Scott Marchand was terrific on the mound for the Formet Big Red Machine, giving up a lone run through three innings of work. Baileigh Richman was tremendous behind and at the plate. He belted a sold triple in the fourth inning that scored two runs for Formet. Grand slams by Cole and Marc, plus base-clearing triples by Baileigh and Spencer powered the St. Thomas Formet Big Red Machine to a 24-4 victory Sunday night in Komoka over DKMB in the opening game of the mosquito west A playoffs. Beyond great hitting, St. Thomas Formet was blessed to have excellent pitching by Christian and Baileigh, strong defense and good base running. Game #2 of the playoffs is Monday night at 6 p.m. at the Mt. Brydges arena diamond. Players, please try to be there by no later than 5:30 p.m.
