Cards go 1-1-1 during busy week
It was a busy week for the Bantam Cardinals as they had to play 3 games in 4 days. All-in-all it was a fairly successful week but the Cardinals were only able to manage a .500 record over the 3 games.

Cardinals 11, N. London 1
The week started with the first home game of the season on Tuesday evening. The Cards hosted the Minor Bantam boys from North London. Things are tough the first few months for a minor team as they need to adjust to the full dimensions being played in Bantam. It's a significant difference and the kids, coaches and parents will need patience as their skills develop. I did not attend this game, but judging by the score it appears the home team had things well in hand.  This victory, coupled with last week's win over EBBA Minor gives the Cards a nice 2-0 start to the season.

Cardinals 5, Southwest 6
This game did not start out particularly well for the Cardinals.  They found themselves down 6-0 after only 2 innings as mound troubles, along with some sketchy defensive miscues cost them dearly in the second inning. There was no quit in the boys, however as they manages to hold the Scorpions to no more runs the remainder of the game.  A 7th inning comeback fell just 1 run shy as the Cardinals had the tying run on third when the last out was recorded.

Cardinals 5, Oakridge 5
Game 2 of back-to-back games had a start very similar to the previous night's game in Southwest. Once again, the Cards found themselves down early after spotting the Reds 3 runs in the third inning.  To be frank, however, this was not too bad considering the Reds left 2 on in the first and had the bases loaded with nobody out in the second and failed to score any runs.  This was one of those strange games where it feels worse than it is.  The Cardinals only trailed 4-0 after 4, and 5-1 after 6, yet if felt much worse.  Unable to get much offense going for the entire game, we managed to keep it close until we caught some breaks in the top of the seventh and scored 4 runs to tie it up.  A stress-free bottom of the seventh followed and after 2 hours and 20 minutes we left with a tie.
