7U and 9U Playoff Format
7U and 9U (Rookie Ball) Playoff Format
All teams will make the playoffs and will participate in 2 pools.
The teams will be divided into 2 groups of 3 teams for 9U and 2 groups of 5 teams for 7U and each team from group A will play each team in group B once
Scores and win/loss must be kept for all games. The score sheet will be turned into the convenor at the end of the game.
After each team completes the round robin portion of the playoffs, the top team in Group A will play against the top team in Group B for the championship
If teams in a Pool are tied at the end of the games, the OBA tie breaker rule will be used. Runs allowed/defensive innings played will be used. This will incorporate just the tied teams, but use all games played. The team with the lowest ratio will be the Pool winner.
All games will be 1.5 hours in length with no inning to start after the time limit. The game will continue if the teams are in the middle of the inning.
An inning will consist of 3 outs or 10 batters.
If the player is called out on a base, the player is out and must go back to the dugout.
The tee will not be used during playoffs. Players will hit off the machine only.
Teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. There will be no extra innings in pool play.
If the game is tied in the championship game at the time limit, the last out from the inning before will be placed on 2nd base to start the new inning.
Trophy presentations will take place immediately after the final round robin games for the teams not advancing to the finals and immediately after the championship game for the finalists and the champions
A coin toss at the start of each game will determine the home team. Please use sportmanship in deciding who will make the call.
All regular season rules will apply for the playoffs. The mercy rule is 18 runs after 3 innings, 15 runs after 4 innings and 10 runs after 5 innings.
When your team is finished all games, please leave your equipment bag with the convenor at the back of the booth.
