St. Thomas Cardinals 10U Grabs Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Kanata Cubs
St. Thomas Cardinals Minor Mosquito’s nabbed the lead late
in the game in a 7-3 victory over Kanata Cubs on Saturday. The game was tied at
three with St. Thomas Cardinals 10U batting in the top of the fifth when Tayven
B came through with a clutch single, blazing first pitch of the at bat scoring Zephyr
H for what was the winning run.
Pitching again proved to be a strong suit, with Gabe L taking the win for Cardinals. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Luke T threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Luke recorded the last three outs to earn the save. Cameron M started the game strongly, scattering two hits and three runs over three innings, striking out three.
In what turned out to be a pitching duel, the 08 Cardinals were poised at the plate, totaling seven hits and 9 walks in the 4 inning game. Each player contributed on both the offensive and defensive efforts, the guys kept solid to preserve the win.
Unfortunate, this talented group was jacked and ready for a tilt with St. Catherine's to book a trip to the semi final – however rain washed out the tournament. You can catch these Cardinals on Wednesday May 27th at New York Central as we welcome a tilt with the London West Tincaps.
