Thomas Cardinals 10U opened the season with a win over Dorchester
Diamondbacks 18-2 on Wednesday May 16th! Starting Pitcher Luke Ordonneau started the
game off on a terrific note, striking out 3 of the first 4 batters! In the bottom half, the Cards opened scoring after
a leadoff walk by Kaden L, Tayven
B doubled on a 0-1 count, putting the Cardinals ahead, and they
never looked back.
The Cardinals tallied nine runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by St. Thomas Cardinals 10U was led by Chase C, Luke O, Cameron M, Luke T, Nathan W, and Cooper H, all knocking in runs in the inning. Luke pitched the Minor Mosquito’s to victory. He allowed one hit and one run over two innings, striking out four. Cooper, Tayven, and Kaden L all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Cooper recorded the last three outs to earn the save for St. Thomas Cardinals 10U. St. Thomas Cardinals 10U collected eight hits. Tayven and Gabe L all managed multiple hits for the cards. Gabe and Tayven all had two hits to lead the way. St. Thomas Cardinals 10U tore up the base paths, as 9 players stole at least two bases. Great opening game in all facets – Pitching staff struck out 9 over 5 innings, holding Dorchester to 2 hits, while walking 5. Defense was stellar again, registering 0 errors over 5 innings! Offense picked up where they left off last season, registering 10 hits and walking 18 times. Terrific team effort!! Next up, the Cardinals head to Strathroy on Victoria Day Monday to tackle the 1-1 Strathroy Royals.
