St.Thomas Rookie Cardinals are Back to Back "AA" OBA Champions
The St.Thomas Rookie Cardinals set out this year to prove that last years LDBA and OBA titles were not just a Cinderela season.

After finishing the 2016 LDBA season as back to back pennant and playoff Champions they were heading into the AA OBA Championship weekend playing some solid baseball and looking to repeat.
The Cardinals started the first game against Peterborough trailing 5-3 going into the bottom of the 6th inning but with a few timely hits managed to come out of the inning with a 6-3 lead and the defence did what it does best and shut the door in the 7th to take the round one game. Round 2 the Cardinals proved to be too strong for Halton Hills and the kids took it in 5 innings 16-6, Round3 match up was against a solid Niagara team but the defence held onto a 7-3 win. Round 4 proved to be one of the best games of the season with the Cards leading 4-0 most of the game but again in the bottom of 6 found themselves in a 5-4 hole going into the top of 7 but again put up 2 runs and let the defence go to work and ensuring the Cardinals a spot in the final 3 and setting up a rematch with their nemesis Lasalle Titans who the Cards defeated in the 2015 semi final and history stayed true and the Cards took the semi 9-4 and setting up a championship finals with Niagara Falls. The Cards started of strong putting up 8 runs in the first 2 inning but a few bad bounces and lost game one 12-8, but as the Cards were undefeated till then and allowed a sudden death final. The Cardinals defence took over and lead 2-1 till the bottom of 6 where Niagara took a 3-2 lead but in true Cardinal fashion the big bats came out taking a 4-3 lead heading into the 7th where again the defence put up a wall to hold on to their 2nd OBA title in as many years.
