Outstanding team play in Brantford
The St. Thomas Major Rookie Optimist Cardinals travelled to Brantford for their second tournament of the season and brought their team game with them.

Game one was against Kitchener and the boys played a great game and started hitting the ball with a purpose. The Cardinals put together 26 hits in a 19-2 win. Ryan Miron was selected as game MVP in this game.

On Saturday morning the Cardinals got home advantage and used it. In the 6th inning Chatham was a head 11-5 but the boys used their at bat to score 6 runs and tie the game going into the 7th. Chatham scored a run but again the Cardinals came back and tied the game. This was a a great game and was filled with big defensive plays lead by the short stop and game MVP Josh Vandenberghe. The Cardinals needed a win in game three to secure a spot in Sunday play and played a team from Port Hope. With a team goal of making Sunday baseball at a tournament the Cardinals came out with more big defensive plays and strong hitting lead by our game MVP Logan Cummings in a 22-7 win which earned them top spot in their pool and a match up against Welland on Sunday Morning in the quarter final.

Sunday started off great with strong defence but the offence was gone. Welland opened it up in the third and it proved to be the end of a great weekend of baseball for the Cardinals as the final score was 11-1. Ryan Miron hit a home run and was awarded the game MVP.

GREAT JOB THIS WEEKEND AND KEEP UP THE HARD WORK.

The cardinals are back in action on Thursday night at home when the Dorchester Diamondbacks come to town for a 6pm start.
