Briwood on to the LDBA city-wide championship after winning west division A title
St. Thomas Briwood capped its undefeated playoff run with a 5-1 victory Wednesday over DKMB in the London District Baseball Association (LDBA) mosquito west division A championship in Komoka.

Both teams played exceptionally well, but the difference was lights-out pitching by both Dale Barrett and Joseph Gillespie, who gave up just one run between them in six innings of equal work.

Briwood's Landon Pay made a huge defensive play at second base in the fourth inning to save two runs from scoring and Chase Crawford delivered a two-out, two-run double in the botton of the fourth inning to give Briwood the lead for good.

St. Thomas Briwood, the top team in the division in regular season play, is now on to the city-wide mosquito house league championship which starts next week.

Winning coach Jeff Barrett would like to thank mosquito west convenor Larry Goetz for running such a well organized league this year.

Barrett also thanks the coaches, players and parents of DKMB for being class acts and being so gracious to our kids and parents.

The whole year and the playoffs have been a great and memorable experience for our kids.
