What a season to remember.......
From tryouts to the OBA championships..........what a season to remember!

When the season started a short four months ago, I remember mentioning to the boys at our first outdoor practice that one of my goals for the team was to be at the finals at the OBA championship weekend and that we would work together to get to this.  During this conversation, there were other goals that were discussed and some seemed at the time: farfetched.  A complete game, multiple stolen bases, homeruns, squeeze plays and a shut out in the finals of the OBA’s are just some of the achievements that this team worked for this season.  None of these things can be done without a complete team effort.  In May, I also expressed to the team that I wanted them to act like professionals and treat all with respect.  I also challenged them to come up with something other than “good” for how they were doing that day when they were greeted.  Some of the words that were used were great, awesome, amazing, fantastic, stupendous, fun-tastic and my favorite AWES-MAZING.  All these were said with a smile and reflected the way these boys went about playing baseball.

At some point this season, every player on this team achieved a personal best or a personal goal for them self even if it was the OBA weekend. They all achieved team best and team goals together and I’d like to share a few:

·         Finalists of our home tournament

·         Champions of the Southwest tournament

·         Champions of the Chatham tournament

·          7 game winning streak (2X)

·         10 game unbeaten streak

·         LDBA Pennant champions

·         LDBA Playoff champions

·         38-8-2 season record

·         710 Runs for/ 302 Runs against

·         OBA Champions!

Just to name a few...
Although these are awesome achievements, some of the things I will most remember from this 2012 season are watching a group of ’02 boys enjoy a summer together.  I will remember the laughing and joking on the bench, the way these boys challenged each other in relays and races and hitting practice, how after a two hour plus practice they would still play a pickup game under the setting sun, the Niagara Falls tournament, team dinner after the Chatham tournament win and always hearing Thank you.  You should all be proud of all the accomplishments you have earned this summer from playing great, awesome, amazing, fantastic, stupendous and AWES-MAZING.

Thank you boys for a FUN-TASTIC baseball season and AWES-MAZING memories!!  You all exceeded any goals or expectations I had in May.
