Walking in the Rain

The St. Thomas Optimist Mosquito Cardinals took advantage of a dozen walks to beat Dorchester 11-4 in a game played entirely through drizzle.

The first four Cardinals reached base without even registering a hit, en route to a five run opening inning. That was plenty enough run support for four different pitchers who allowed just three hits combined.

Christian Vecchio continues to get on base, and score runs since being inserted into the lead off spot. With three more runs, he has now scored seven times in those three games. He also threw a perfect inning striking out the side in the 3rd.

Silas Hulst provided his second straight solid start on the mound. He went two scoreless innings, and has allowed just a single run over five innings in his last two outings. Hulst also reached base all three times (2 walks and HBP) scoring twice.

Make it three straight victories for the club, who are now just a game under .500 in league play. North London will visit New York Central Monday Night, as the boys try to keep their win streak alive heading into the Oakridge Tournament next weekend.
